We cook Sweet Potato matang for this breakfast! 

Sweet potatoes have significant antioxidant capacities and are rich in vitamin A, B-6 and C as well as potassium. How sweet it is for us to eat these tasty sweet potatoes and not get fat! (Even though we put the sugar and syrup to make Matang..)

Enjoy eating a lot of sweet potatoes this fall to stay healthy :)

*Ingredients

Sweet potato, sugar(Syrup), oil

*Directions

1. Pill sweet potatoes, wash it and cut it into cube.

2. Add sweet potatoes, cover pan and bring water to boil until tender.

3. Fry boiled sweet potato pieces in the frypan.

4. Make the Syrup with sugar and water.

5. Cover the syrup to diced sweet potato.

Weekend Cooking‬ 95th at Travelers Planet Hostel (Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

We cooked tteokbokki yesterday in the morning! 

Tteokbokki is a delicious Korean dish which many persons like.

It is made of long thins stick-like rice cake, vegetables, fish cake, 

and so on whatever you want to put. 

Normarlly, it is spicy because of the gochujang(Korean spicy sauce), 

but there is also soy sauce tteokbokki. 

If you travel Korea, the one of that you should taste is tteokbokki in the street :)

*Ingredient

stick-like rice cake, spring onion, fish cake, soy sauce, sugar, gochujang, chili pepper, garlic

*Directions

1. Put the stick-like rice cake in the water.

2. Mix cut spring onion and garlic and the other sauce, 

then put it in the water and boil it.

3. When water is started to boil, put the rice cake until cooked through.

4. As rice cake is almost cooked, put fish cake to finish cooking.

Autumn was starting already (Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

Autumn is just around the corner. 

Even though until last weekend, it was hot even at night, 

I can feel cool breeze at the roof top garden of Travelers Planet. 

Actually, 22 August of last week was 2nd anniversary of Travelers Planet hostel. 

I am remembering one of the first time I was here. 

Time is like an arrow, isn't it? 

At the first time, here was almost empty little awkwardly.

Today in the morning, we cook Jajang rice for our guests!

Jajang rice or Jajang myun is a popular Korean-style Chinese dish.

As you can watch in the video, Jajang is black sauce made by Chunjang.

Many Koreans eat Jajang rice and Jajang myun often. And you can easily enjoy it in your home or office!

*Ingredient

powder of Jajang, Onion, Carrot, Potato, Garlic, Pork, Pepper

*Directions

1. Chop all ingredient(Potato, Onion, Carrot, Pork)

2. Put the pepper to the pork for seasoning

3. Smash up garlic and fry with oil, then put 1)Onion 2)Carrot 3)Potato 4)Pork to the pan

4. Pour the water, powder of Jajang and boil it

5. When Jajang bubbles up, reduce the fire and boil more.

This cake from Osaka, Japan, 

and we have gotten this sponge cake from Ha Sang Suk sang who is the one of our guest :D

It was their last gift for us before they leave Seoul, Korea. 

All of the managers of TP was very happy to be with this cute and happy family. 

We can feel a sense of warmth from this cake as we could feel it from this family! 

It is beautiful and warm tonight~! hehe :D

Today's weekend cooking menu was Hawaiian Musubi, tada!!

This cook is made by Japanese who went to Hawaii. And 'Musubi' means 'tie' in Japanese. 

As you watch this video, you will know why this has the name. 

If you can cook the rice, it will be very easy to cook! Check this video first!

*Ingredient

steamed rice, Seaweed, Spam, eggs, sesame leaf

*Directions

1. Make the egg slice with cooking

2. Slice spam to 6 pieces

3. Cut the big seaweed to the half, and sesame leaf to the size

5. Season to taste, add salt (and pepper) to the rice

6. Cover the case of spam with plastic wrap and put rice -> sliced egg -> sesame leaf -> spam -> rice inside

7. Pull the whole with plastic wrap and cover it with seaweed.

8. Cut well to the size.

*For cutting smoothly, stuff a case of spam full of ingredients.

If you check our video about weekend cooking every weekend, you have already recognized that we like to cook Jeon with various ingredient. 

This morning, we cooked pan-fried shrimp zucchini. Zucchini was from our guest, Winnie! She took it at the farm by herself. It feels more delicious, crunchy and savory with fresh ingredient haha.

*Ingredients

 Zucchini, Onion, Pepper, flour, (egg), salt, oil

*Directions

1. Slice the Zucchini.

2. Slice onion and Chungyang Red Pepper(Korean style spicy chili)

3. Crush the dried prawn

4. Mix all ingredients you prepared

5. Season with some salt to taste 

6. Oil the Frying pan and cook it!

We cook Kimchi fried rice in this morning! 

It is one of my favorite Korean dishes.

*Ingredients

Kimchi, rice, ham, onion(or spring onion), egg, oil

*Directions

1. Chop the Kimchi, ham and onion(or spring onion) as you want & cook rice 

2. Fry chopped Kimchi first

3. Add the ham and onion and fry together with Kimchi

4. When the ingredients are fried and cooked, put cooked rice

5. Make the fried egg and decorate on the Kimchi fried rice

It was very hot in the morning and rainy, but we could enjoy that time! :)

*Ingredients

potato, onion, salt, pepper, pan frying powder or flour, oil

*Directions

1. Cut up the potatoes and onions

2. Season with salt and pepper to sliced potato and onion

3. Put one spoon of the powder and mix with potato and onion

4. Oil the pan, add mixture, and bake it

5. Eat it with some soy sauce!

We can find out brown color powder made of mixed grains in store, especially in Summer. Cereal drink is traditional drinks and it has been used for healthy drink during hot season. Try to make it and taste nutty and sweet cereal drink  :)

Cereal powder(powder made of mixed grains), water or milk, sugar or honey 

*Directions

1. Put the powder inside the water or milk 

2. Put some sugar to make it sweet

3. If you want colder drink, put the ice

,said he just draw sometimes when he wants too.

He didn't have the photo to draw with so he only used his imagination for this Haha

Hey, guys. How you doing?

Today's weekend cooking menu is #Spicy Noodle.

Korean love #spicy_food and #noodle . So, Spicy Noodle... No need to tell.

No worry that would be too spicy. You can control spicy degree.

When you make the sauce, put #Korean_red_pepperand

#Korean_pepper_paste how much you want.

Then, let's see how to make it.

  

*Ingredients

plain noodle

cucumber

carrot

- sauce-

Korean red pepper powder

Korean pepper paste

sesame

sesame oil

sugar

soy sauce

vinegar

*Directions

Put plain noodles into a big pot of boiling water for 3-5 minutes until cooked.

Drain some of the water out and pour cold water over them again. This will help the noodles get chewier.

Rinse and drain the noodles a couple of times until not slippery.  Put the noodles into a basket or colander.

Cut cucumber, carrot into thin strips.

Blend the sauce ingredients.

Put the vegetables on the noodle and put some sauce how much you want.

Stir it  and enjoy it!

Lying is done guys. Tree planting day is coming.

What tree-planting day is? As time goes, a lot of forest of Korea has been gone.

Same as world's going through.

In 1960, Korea government enacted tree-planting day every April 5th.

Many associations go here and there then plant little trees.

You can be a volunteer as well.

One 50 years old well grown up tree can make an effect same as one hundred forty million KRW !!

How about earning one hundred forty million KRW on coming Sunday?
