Last Wednesday, we cooked Corn&Tuna Jeon for our guests.

Jeon is unique kind of Korean style food,
and it can be transformed into various kind of Jeon.
This Corn&Tuna Jeon is also kind of it. It is not traditional,
but trendy food that we can enjoy to cook and taste easily. 

Refer how to cook it as below, try it once! It is very easy :) 

*Ingredients

Corn, Tuna, Onion, Flour, Oil

*Directions

1. Remove moisture of corn and tuna. 

2. Cut onion, remove water and mix with corn and tuna. 

3. Season it with salt and pepper. 

4. Beat flour and eggs to paste.

5. Fry the mixture with enough oil.

Autumn was starting already (Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

Autumn is just around the corner. 

Even though until last weekend, it was hot even at night, 

I can feel cool breeze at the roof top garden of Travelers Planet. 

Actually, 22 August of last week was 2nd anniversary of Travelers Planet hostel. 

I am remembering one of the first time I was here. 

Time is like an arrow, isn't it? 

At the first time, here was almost empty little awkwardly. 

This space has filled with all of you.

Weekend Cooking 91st at Travelers Planet Hostel(Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

Today's weekend cooking menu was Hawaiian Musubi, tada!!

This cook is made by Japanese who went to Hawaii. And 'Musubi' means 'tie' in Japanese. 

As you watch this video, you will know why this has the name. 

If you can cook the rice, it will be very easy to cook! Check this video first!

*Ingredient

steamed rice, Seaweed, Spam, eggs, sesame leaf

*Directions

1. Make the egg slice with cooking

2. Slice spam to 6 pieces

3. Cut the big seaweed to the half, and sesame leaf to the size

5. Season to taste, add salt (and pepper) to the rice

6. Cover the case of spam with plastic wrap and put rice -> sliced egg -> sesame leaf -> spam -> rice inside

7. Pull the whole with plastic wrap and cover it with seaweed.

8. Cut well to the size.

*For cutting smoothly, stuff a case of spam full of ingredients.

3 times visiting here, our regular friend! (Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Souel, Korea)

Thomas is our regular guest visiting TP 3 times already, and finally, he got his own TP bottle! :) 

I have already met him on January this year, and we enjoyed the meal together at 4th floor of TP hahaha (Actually he didn't like Jjolmyeon, spicy and cold noodles I ate that time) 

He can speak 5 languages, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, English, and a little Korea, even though he is very young, maybe cause he wants to be English teacher in somewhere in the world and someday work in embassy. That is why he visits Asia frequently, and TP as well. 

I was great to meet him again!

Weekend Cooking 89th at Travelers Planet Hostel (Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

We cook Rolled Omelet with cheese in this morning. 

We eat Rolled Omelet often for breakfast, lunch or dinner with rice :-)

I think it is not easy to roll but it has good shape and simple to eat. 

Actually, I should practice more to make better shaped rolled omelet!

*Ingredients

egg, salt, water, oil, onion, cheese, ketchup

*Directions

1. Prepare the egg and other ingredients 

2. Break the eggs and stir it until all is incorporated.

3. Put the salt and some water to make is softer.

3. You can put add chopped onion, pepper, spring onion to your preference.

4. Oil the pan, add  mixture, and fry. 

5. When eggs are fried, put the cheese and start to roll the eggs. 

4. Cut the finished rolled egg and put the ketchup on them as you want.

We cook Kimchi fried rice in this morning! 

It is one of my favorite Korean dishes. 

If you like Kimchi, I'll bet you will like this :)

*Ingredients

Kimchi, rice, ham, onion(or spring onion), egg, oil

*Directions

1. Chop the Kimchi, ham and onion(or spring onion) as you want & cook rice 

2. Fry chopped Kimchi first

3. Add the ham and onion and fry together with Kimchi

4. When the ingredients are fried and cooked, put cooked rice

5. Make the fried egg and decorate on the Kimchi fried rice

Tada! We cook   in this morning as our weekend cooking! 

It was very hot in the morning and rainy, but we could enjoy that time! :) 

Watch this video and try once! It is very easy and delicious. 

*Ingredients

potato, onion, salt, pepper, pan frying powder or flour, oil

*Directions

1. Cut up the potatoes and onions

2. Season with salt and pepper to sliced potato and onion

3. Put one spoon of the powder and mix with potato and onion

4. Oil the pan, add mixture, and bake it

5. Eat it with some soy sauce!

We made cereal drink in this morning as special breakfast!(weekend cooking time)! 

We can find out brown color powder made of mixed grains in store, especially in Summer. Cereal drink is traditional drinks and it has been used for healthy drink during hot season. Try to make it and taste nutty and sweet cereal drink  :) 

*Ingredients

Cereal powder(powder made of mixed grains), water or milk, sugar or honey 

*Directions

1. Put the powder inside the water or milk 

2. Put some sugar to make it sweet

3. If you want colder drink, put the ice

Have you ever seen white and cold noodles in summer season? 

We cook that white and cold noodles named cold bean-soup noodles(Kong-guk-su in Korean)  this weekend!

Korean enjoy cold bean-soup noodles in this hot season! 

Literally, it is made by ground bean and noodles, and we put ice to make it cooler. 

Try the delicacy of this season :) 

*Ingredients

bean, noodles, salt or suger, cucumber or tomato(only when you want to put)

*Directions

1. Make the cold bean soup by grinding the bean with little water

2. Boil the noodles and make it cooler

3. Put the noodles and cold bean soup in the bowl

4. Season with some salt or sugar to taste

5. According to your preference, put sliced cucumber or tomato

Bengawan Solo is a famous biscuit or cake shop in Singapore and has gained a lot of fame all across the world.

and revisitor guest Mr. Nair has brought back this Bengawan Solo biscuit from Singapore !

How nice!

He and his wife Clarice visited Studio41st last year and said they remembered Evy while they stayed,

and they decided to brought back some gift.

Its flavour was pineapple and Evy and other staffs just devoured it all in a second.

It was very very delicious.

*Ingredients*

red pepper paste (gochujang)

ketchup

oligosaccharide

sugar

soy sauce

rice cake

skewer

*Directions*

1. get the rice cake soaked in water to make it softer
2. mix all the sauce in the ingredients above, gochujang, oligosaccharide, sugar, soy sauce, and ketchup.
3. skewer the rice cake.
4. toast the rice cake until it gets a bit golden :)
5. put the sauce over the rice cake.

and then Raymond, guy with the long hair said they are Fashion Designing Students From Beijing, China.

,said he just draw sometimes when he wants too.

and look what he's gave us. AWESOME PIC!

they became good friend with our morning staff Selly and he drew a picture for her of herself!

He didn't have the photo to draw with so he only used his imagination for this Haha

I said "if you say this is Selly, then it is Selly." the caring mind is the most important thing, right? :)

Teachers are our mentors, friends, etc. Not quite parents but still they raise us up to be a best person, and their lessons last a lifetime.

The date was chosen to commemorate the birth of Sejong the Great, the fourth king of Joseon-dynasty in Korea. Sejong supported literature and encouraged officials and scholars to study and King Sejong is also known for creating of korean language of hangul.

Hello! This week's weekend cooking menu is

Soft Tofu with Soy Sauce!

this is all about making soy sauce to suit yourself~

you can either make it spicy or just a normal sweet and salty soy sauce!

*Ingredients

Chives

Dark Soy Sauce (or Thick Soy Sauce)

Sesame Oil

Sesame

Hot Pepper (Optional)

*Directions

Slice and snip those chives

and then ready the dark soy sauce,

put sesame oil, sesame (and hot pepper if you want :)) in the right amount.

then you add it on soft tofu then it's done.

have a big scoop and you'll go yummy yummy!

I couldn't say there are lot of huge park-enjoying culture here in Seoul,

but if you just want to enjoy that kind of culture, you can have it!

and I know that you could use your time to go on adventure to more of those famous toursites, but still, think about relaxing just like you're part of a seoul citizen :))

and for now, “Seoul, a Blooming Flower” Campaign is on at

Seoul Grand Park~<3, botanical gardens,  indoors and outdoors they are exhibiting those beautiful spring flowers of all kind!

but in a short version I can tell.

If you want to smell the scent of spring here in Seoul City

go there.

Also they have a zoo there! probably the only zoo in Seoul,

and playground for kids, so families! your kids are going to love there!

The park's entrance fee is extremely cheap (about 2$ per person) so you won't have to worry about that~

That was first day we go to Korea and that was our first time to visited Korea too.

We are very excited to visit Korea & Travelers Planet.

But that day we all very tired because it was rainy day .

And the second day morning we met breakfast manager “Moon”

We made yummy breakfast.

At night we went to Seoul Tower.

The night was amazing.

The Third day we like a crazy girl .

We went to Lotte mark buy a lot of cookies.

Some people over there were look at us.

Maybe they were think why they buy so many.

At night we were very hungry so we cook in the kitchen. 

We enjoyed한우. It really delicious.

The fourth day we went to Sinchon& Ewha Womans University.

It rainy day again .

But nothing can’t standing in our way.

The fifth day we had to check out T^T

All of us were very very very very sad.

We hope we can visit here again.

We went to경복궁.

That day was really cold.

So someone get a cold.

The sixth day we went to 북촌한옥마을.

We take some stupid picture.

북촌한옥마을 is having antique flavor.

We had wear beautiful한복.

We look like a princess.

The last day somebody visit the cube coffee& somebody visit shopping mall.

We saw an idol is got7 Jackson!!!!

At afternoon we take a bus to airport .

We were unhappy we had to leave~

Weekend cooking 73rd( Travelers Planet Hostel Guesthouse, Hongdae, Seoul, Korea)

Hi, guys~

Today, weekend cooking menu is #Buchujeon :)

'jeon' is like a Korean pancake.

Korean love jeon. There are a lot of kinds of jeon.

Buchujeon is very easy to cook among them.

Of course it is tasty too.

The important thing when you cook it, you should make it crunchy.

If you don't cook it properly, it would be just bad dough with buchu.

Be careful.

Then, why don't we start?

Not many ingredients is necessary.

Here we go!

*Ingredients

Buchu

Onion

Flour(Korean pancake mix)

Water

Salt

Pepper

- sauce -

Soy sauce

Sesame

Vinegar

Pepper powder(optional)

*Directions

Mix the ingredients properly.

fry it as thin as you can.(thickness decides how cruchy it is.)

Dip a piece in the sauce.

Eat it!
