20150314 weekend cooking 69th Travelers Planet Hostel.[Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Hello, everyone!

Do you guys like noodles?

I LOVE NOODLES TOO MUCH! haha

I think many Korean people would enjoy noodles for meal.

but sometimes we even make sweet snacks with noodles 

named "Ramen-ddang".

It is very nice with beer and also really simple to cook it!

Yesterday we cooked this for Travelers planet guests ;)

Watch this video and try yourself!

*Ingredient

Any kind of dry noodles

Sugar 

Syrup or Honey(Optical)

*Direction

Break the dry noodles into bite-size pieces.

Put them on a pan with on low heat.(without oil)

Melt the sugar and  until the noodles get golden.

and add sugar over the noodles evenly as much you want.

and melt the sugar stirring them nicely so it doesn't burn.

When the noodles get sticky enough serve it on a plate.

Add some syrup or honey if you prefer sweeter one and enjoy it!

Hi, Everyone! 

This is Ji, a night manager in Travelers planet hostel.

Since I work here I've met a lot people who love traveling like crazy!

It is awesome to meet them as I'm a huge travel enthusiasts!haha

When I was traveling I always tried to see the real life of the countries and people. 

As you guys know, however, it's actually quite difficult to know about that through tour guide books or internet surfing or somting like that but at least we have local friends and spend time with them for long!

Therefore, I thought our lovely guests also might suffer the same problem while they are traveling Korea 

so I thought maybe I could help them that I show them 

what is real Korea that actually you have to know, see and enjoy!

so I decided that I will upload the series of Korea spoken by real Korean!

It's going to be really fun!!!

Next week I will come with the first story of real Korea

Korean [sentiments "정情Jeong"] which is very complicated to explain 

but also very important for Korean people and culture!

20150221 weekend cooking 66th Travelers Planet Hostel.[Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Hi! This is Ji.

How's your weekend going?

This weekend, we cooked #Ddukguk 

at Travelers planet #hostel in #Hongdae, #Seoul, #Korea.

It was so meaningful to cook this traditional dish 

with our guests in Korean new year time ♥ 

Watch this video and try it yourself!

*Ingredient

Korean duk (flat oval rice cakes)

broth (beef, anchovy, or chicken)

Soup soy sauce and pepper

egg (fried and sliced into thin strips)

Dried seaweed sheets (cut into thin slices)

spring onion(chopped for optional garnish)

*Direction

Soak rice cakes in cold water for about 20 minutes.

Bring broth to a boil.

Season to taste with soup soy sauce and black pepper.

Add rice cakes and simmer until tender, about 10 minutes.

Ladle into individual bowls and then add egg and seaweed strips and scallions.

Weekend Cooking 40th at Travelers Planet Hostel.

This weekend, we made Sweet Korean Pancake for our guests!!!

We were enjoying nice time with all of our guests.

Do you want to know how to cook?

First, Dissolve the yeast into 180~200ml warm water

Tip! You can easily use paper cup to measure the amount of the water

(1 paper cup equals 180~200ml water)

For lukewarm water, you can mix 2/3 hot water and 1/3 cold water.

Second, Add the pancake flour into the dissolve yeast.

Knead the mixture for 5 minutes or more dough is evenly mixed.

Divide the dough into 8 balls.

Tip! To avoid dough sticking on the gloves, rub some oil on the plastic gloves

Third, Flatten each dough balls and fill with the prepared pancake sweat filling

Make sure to cover the filling very well with dough

Last, Fry the part of the filled dough. 

When the dough bottom turns brown, flatten the pancake ball.

Turn it upside down to cook it evenly

It is supposed to be handmade chocolate but most people just buy something from many, many places offering beautifully wrapped boxes.

So guys, you can just sit back and relax... for now~!!!




March 14th is White Day in Korea, and that means if your girl gave you chocolate or candy, you too have to get some for her,, ha ha~




I'm waiting for the Black Day. 14th of April. Black Day is an opportunity for all single people to get together and either drown their sorrows or celebrate their freedom, depending on their outlook, over a bowl of the classic Korean- Chinese dish Jajangmyeon
(Black bean noodles).

Usually our guest go outskirt  to enjoy snow and winter scene even though hard traffic trans.



Actually near our Travelers planet hostel in Seoul Korea there is great fun item.


Seoul Plaza Skating Rink. It is located in front of city hall. so it will take just 20 minutes from our hostel to here by subway



Seoul Square Skating Rink will open from 16.Dec to 23.Feb.


So you don't need to go far away from Seoul and it just costs 1,000 KRW per hour with including rental fee.

Lighting Festival 2014 (The garden of morning calm)

Today, one good information for you guys is Lighting Festival 2014 at the garden of morning calm.



The Garden of Morning Calm holds its annual Light Festival from December through to March 3. On weekends (including Friday), the garden closes late at 9PM and you can marvel at the thousands of lights that illuminate the garden.



- Buy some hot packs to put into shoes and pockets before you come to the garden! It can get very cold posing for a photo in snowy weather.
