Real Korea! "Korean sentiments" Episode 2.‪흥興‬(Heung-joy) [Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Originally Korean called ourself we are a race 

having ‪Han‬(Resentment) and Heung cultural traits.

A Interesting point is they two traits are completely opposite conceptions. 

But they are innerly related to each other. 

I'm going to tell you more about Han next weekend.

Korean's Heung is shown well in people's daily life and culture.

Basically, korean people love to eat, drink, sing and dance 

all together at the same time so much!

Some Korean speak in game we could share proper Jeong 

to exchange glasses each other and hang out singing and dancing.

This sentiment has come down to us from our ancestors.

We can find it in Korean traditional play, music and performance.

The most outstanding example is ‪Sa-mul-no-ri‬.

It is a genre of traditional percussion music.

Several people play four different traditional Korean musical instruments 

upon special Sa-mul-no-ri rhythms all musician and audience dancing and moving free.

Also the musicians consider communication and harmony 

with audiences a significant part.

If you see the performance I'm sure you cannot stop dancing and feeling free! 

I personally think sometimes we know traditional things are certainly important 

but also cannot deny some of them is quite boring.

But this one is not, it is still fairly exciting 

but unfortunately its fame has been losing out to new things like always.

In the sense, I recommend a performance "‪Nanta‬".

It a comedy performance, a story in kitchen based on Sa-mul-no-ri rhythms.

Knives and other kitchen utensils make sound, 

as those stuff are transformed into musical instruments!

I hope more people know more about Korean Heung 

and its culture not onl ‪Kang-nam Style‬ and hope it did work! haha

20150314 weekend cooking 69th Travelers Planet Hostel.[Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Hello, everyone!

Do you guys like noodles?

I LOVE NOODLES TOO MUCH! haha

I think many Korean people would enjoy noodles for meal.

but sometimes we even make sweet snacks with noodles 

named "Ramen-ddang".

It is very nice with beer and also really simple to cook it!

Yesterday we cooked this for Travelers planet guests ;)

Watch this video and try yourself!

*Ingredient

Any kind of dry noodles

Sugar 

Syrup or Honey(Optical)

*Direction

Break the dry noodles into bite-size pieces.

Put them on a pan with on low heat.(without oil)

Melt the sugar and  until the noodles get golden.

and add sugar over the noodles evenly as much you want.

and melt the sugar stirring them nicely so it doesn't burn.

When the noodles get sticky enough serve it on a plate.

Add some syrup or honey if you prefer sweeter one and enjoy it!

20150307 weekend cooking 68th Travelers Planet Hostel.[Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Hello, everyone!

This weekend "#WeekendCooking" menu was #Hotteok which is very popular street food in Korea!

It is sweet and have a chewy texture.

I knew all our guests will like this and then actually they did a lot! hahahaha. We ware happy for that :)

Plus, If you could buy Hotteok mix pakage, it will be easier to make it like us as it contains all you need in it to make Hotteok. ;)

Watch this video and try it sometimes! 

It could be the best snack ;)

*Ingredient

Hotteok mix package

(Contents – Premix, filling jam mix, Dry yeast)

some warm water

*Direction

1) Put instant yeast packet on 250ml of warm water on a bowl. Mix it well!

2) Add the premix in the bowl and mix with a spatula or a rice scooper. 

Until it appears like a ball.

3) No need to leave it to ferment - oil or flour your hands to form it to small balls.

4) Extract the filling or syrup ingredients on a bowl.

5) Flatten each of the dough and place the syrup on the center. 

Close it up until it forms into a ball and fry it on a pan with oil.

6) Flatten the dough using a flat-bottomed utensil and brown both sides.
