Hello~ Weekend Cooking is back with summer dish!

Travelers Planet Hostel is offering cool summer dishes for guests these days, the weather got so hot!

*Ingredients

pear juice (get it from any store), vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, noodles, cucumber, seaweed, sesame

*Directions

1. simmer the noodles for 5 minutes and put it in cold water.

2. mix pear juice, vinegar one big spoon, soy sauce 2 spoons, sesame oil one spoon and mix it.

3. julienne a cucumber and seaweed, then put together with 

noodle and the seasoning of 2. together!
*with Ice water it tastes better!

Weekend Cooking is back!

This time our manager Evy made Kimchi Pancake, or Kimchi-Jeon!

Kimchi Pancake is said to be good to have with makgeolli (traditional korean rice wine) in Korea!

Let’s make it!!

*Ingredients

Kimchi

Flour

Half cup of water

*Direction

1. Chop the onions

2. Chop the kimchi

3. Mix the flour and other ingredients with adequate amount of water. The mix shouldn’t be too watery or too thick!

4. Heat the pan and add enough oil. When the oil gets hot, scoop the mix and spread it on the pan

5. Cook both sides until it turns nice yellowish orange. Now the kimchijeon is ready to serve.

*Optional!

You can also prepare the sauce and have it with Kimchi Jeon

Slice and snip those chives

and then ready the dark soy sauce!

20150314 weekend cooking 70th Travelers Planet Hostel.[Hostel in Hongdae, Seoul, Korea]

Hello, everyone <3

Today Weekend cooking is Rolled omelet!

Rolled omelet is one of common side dishes in Korea.

It's not really difficult to cook but require some skill to make the shape nicely. 

but Travelers planet official chef "Effy" made it perfectly! Coooool.

Look at this video and try it yourself ;)

*Ingredient

eggs

some salt

oil

*Direction

Mix eggs in a bowl with some salt.

Heat a pan at medium high temperature and add oil.

Pour a thin layer of egg mixture in the pan, tilting to cover the bottom of the pan. 

After the thin egg has set a little, gently roll into a log.

Repeat adding egg to the pan and rolling back and forth until the egg is used up.

Remove from the pan and cool for 3-4 minutes.

Slice the ends of the log off and then slice the log into a bite-sized. 

and enjoy!

It's Korean new year!

This is one of the most important conventional holidays in Korea. 

The celebration lasts three days from today to Thursday.

We make many traditional food to perform an ancestral ritual called Cha-rye, especially, Dduk-guk! Korean people believe if we eat this when new year, we could grow a year older proper.

So this Saturday we will cook Dduk-guk for you guys as I mentioned previously. haha

It's rainy in #Hongdea , #Seoul , #Korea .

People say spring will come soon after this rainy season. 

I'm so excited! It will be the best time to travel! Yay 

Anyway Last weekend,

Travelers planet #hostel kitchen was full of delicious food 

for #Freebreakfast like always, especially with #JajangTteokbokki !

*Ingredient

Sticky Rice Cakes for Tteokbokki 

green onion

Fish Cake (Optional)

Black Bean Paste

Some Water

*Direction

Soak rice cake in water for 10 minutes.

Drain water on a strainer.

Cut green onion diagonally.

Clean fish cake in lukewarm water to remove excess oil and solt.

Cut it into proper size to eat.

Add all seasonings into a bowl and mix them evenly for sauce.

Pour some water into a pot and add the mixture of seasonings.

Mix them well and heat it up on high heat.

When it boils, add rice cake and boil it for 2 minutes.

Add vegetables and boiled eggs except for green onion.

Boil it for 3 minutes on medium heat.

Add green onion and boil it for 10-20 seconds on medium heat.

We made " Stir-Fried Zucchini” for our guests at Travelers Planet Hostel Common area which is 4th floor!!!

This is a quick delicious zucchini dish!

* Ingredient

- 2 pounds sliced zucchini

- 2 garlic cloves, minced

- 1/4 cup olive oil

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

- 1/4 teaspoon pepper

* Direction

In a large skillet, saute the zucchini and garlic in oil until zucchini is crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with seasonings. Serve immediately.

We made Ganjang Gyeran Bab  for our guests at Travelers Planet Hostel Common area which is 4th floor!!!

Every household has its own version.

Some add margarine, soy sauce and raw egg while others stay loyal to the classic recipe below.

Let me tell you how to make it!!

Ingredients

200ml cooked short-grain rice

1 fried egg (preferably sunny-sideup)

1 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1 pinch crushed roasted sesame seeds, plus more for garnish

Directions

1. Mix rice, egg, soy sauce, sesame oil and crushed sesame seeds in a bowl.

2. Garnish with sesame seeds

Weekend Cooking 48th at Travelers Planet Hostel.

This weekend, we made Hotteock for our guests!!!

Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

From now on I will tell you how to make it!!

1. Dissolve the yeast into 180~200ml warm water.

Tip! You can easily use paper cup to measure the amount of the water.(1 paper cup equals 180~200ml water) 

For lukewarm water, You can mix 2/3 hot water and 1/3 cold water. 

2. Add the pancake flour into the dissolve yeast.

Knead the mixture for 5 minutes or more dough is evenly mixed. Divide the dough into 8 balls. 

Tip! To avoid dough sticking on the gloves, rub some oil on the plastic gloves

3. Flatten each dough balls and fill with the prepared pancake sweat filling.

 You can also fill everything you want. Make sure to cover the filling very well with dough.

4. Fry the part of the filled dough. When the dough bottom turns brown, flatten the pancake ball. 

Trun it upside down to cook it evenly
